EN36 Case Hardening Steel

Nickel-Chromium case hardening steel designed for heavy duty applications requiring high surface hardness and core toughness.

EN36: Tough Core, Hard Case

EN36 (also known as 655M13) is a 3% nickel, chromium, molybdenum grade. It is designed to be carburized to give a hard case with a strong, tough core.

Key Features & Properties

  • Case Hardening: Achieves a very hard wear-resistant surface.
  • Core Properties: Retains a very tough and shock-resistant core.
  • Impact Strength: Excellent resistance to shock and impact.
  • Composition: High nickel content for toughness.

Typical Applications

  • Heavy duty gears and pinions
  • Worm gears and drive wheels
  • High-impact drive components
  • Crane shafts and wheels

Technical Specifications

EN36 is used for parts requiring high surface wear resistance and high core strength. It is superior to standard case hardening grades for heavy sections.
